Sprint at Dalhousie University and Kings College for the Dick James Memorial.

REMINDER - If this is your first event in 2022, please complete the required annual membership and waiver forms online in advance. This will save time and paper at registration.

Beginner Clinic:

A FREE Beginner's Clinic will be offered for those interested in learning more about Orienteering. Basic skills such as how to read an orienteering map and do simple navigation will be included. The beginners’ clinic will be held from 10:15-10:45am. Please register below if you are interested. On-site check-in for the clinic will be at 10:00am.

Courses:

This will be a Sprint event. Controls must be visited in order. This is on a university campus with open and paved terrain and lots of buildings. Expect high speeds and lots of route choice. Winning time of 15-20 minutes expected.

Beginner: The easiest to navigate and shortest distance to cover.

Intermediate: More route choice to challenge your navigation skills.

Advanced: Lots of route choice at high speeds, the longest course.

Registration:

You must have a 2022 Orienteering Canada waiver and membership form on file to participate in this event. These can be filled out online here, REGISTRATION AND WAIVER . If you have already completed these forms in 2022, there is no need to do another one. If you reside outside of NS, you need to be registered with a home club. (Waiver only for those registered with a club outside Canada).

Please follow all municipal, provincial and federal health guidelines while participating.

Please ensure you register on this website by midnight Thursday, June 23, 2022.

On-site check-in will take place from 10:00-10:45 am. Please ensure you have completed membership/waiver in advance (see above).

Limited same day registration may be possible if maps are available. We prefer you preregister to guarantee you a map and make check-in quick and easy for all participants.

Start:

Saturday, June 25th, 11:00 am, 1 min interval starts per course.

Course closure will be at 12:30pm.

Entry Fees: Pre-registered (add $5 for day-of registrations):

Senior: (age 21 and above) $10 per person

Junior: (age 20 and under) $5 per person

Family or wayfaring group: $15

Organized Group (e.g. scouts, guides, cadets, etc.: $5 per person)

SI (timing device) rental: $3 per unit

Maximum fee per family unit: $25

Check-in will be on the main quad of Dalhousie University, at the West end of University Avenue.

Dick James Memorial: Dick James was a founding member of the Orienteering Association of Nova Scotia in 1969. His passion for Orienteering was reflected in the thousands of hours he devoted to growing the sport over the years. Proceeds from this event will be donated to Orienteering Canada's Junior Development Program. As this event is a fundraiser for junior development, participation of juniors is highly encouraged.
