This event is available 14 Oct - 16 Nov 2020.
MAPS AND COURSES:
This is a self-timed event. There is a Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced course. Maps have been uploaded to the “Resources” tab (scroll down to "Long Lake Middle Training"). You can download and print the maps, and run the courses on your own schedule. Do as many courses as you like!
The Start is approx 1km from 10 Dunbrack St. parking lot, North along the main trail.
PLEASE NOTE: Control locations will NOT be flagged in any way in the terrain, however the courses will be available on MapRun F, a smartphone app for orienteering that allows you to load the course onto your smartphone, track yourself using GPS, receive notifications when you reach each control and upload and compare your results to others who have completed the course. This app works quite well in open areas. Under tree cover, you may need to wait a few moments near the control site for the unit to pick up GPS and notify you. [If it does not register controls that you have been to, you can contact Emily Secord through ONS at email@example.com and she may be able to add you to the results.]
The maps and courses will be available until November 16th, 2020.
This event is being offered FREE of charge!
Although courses are self-timed and self-directed, the MapRunF courses require a PIN and we need to track participation. Please register on this site, we also require you to submit a membership and waiver form for 2020. If you have not already done so for an orienteering event in NS in 2020 please complete the Membership and Waiver google forms linked below. Please allow up to 24h from registration for the PIN to be sent to the email on your membership form. Thank you!
Can be found on the Orienteering Nova Scotia website, or here:
For those with a Garmin device, MapRunG can also be used, and you can run without your phone:
